Adjusting Assessment Settings
The Assessment Settings in the Edit Assessment tab depend on whether the assessment type selected is Scored or Not Scored. The settings also vary slightly depending on whether you are creating a stand-alone assessment or an assessment in a document.
Adjust Assessment Settings
-
From a open assessment, click Assessment Settings.
-
For Assessment Type, select Scored or Not Scored, and then do one of the following depending on the selection.
Scored SettingsWith a Scored assessment, you can specify which responses are correct to test concept knowledge or reading comprehension. If you create a stand-alone assessment, assignees will be required to complete the responses with a passing score to complete their assigned Read / Complete task. If you create an assessment in a document, assignees will be required to complete the responses with a passing score before they can mark the document as read.
The table below lists each of the Scored assessment settings and a description of its characteristics.
Setting Description Minimum Score to Pass Type the percentage of questions assignees must answer correctly to pass the assessment. Show Printable Certificate Select this option to give assignees the ability to print out a certificate once they pass the assessment. Disable Assessment (for document assessments only) Select this option if, after creating an assessment in a document, you decide not to require it for marking the document as read.
Confidentiality Select Make results available to anyone who can see assessment reports or Restrict results to administrators and the owner.
If you want to the results to be seen by running an assessment report (Assessment Results by Content or Assessment Results by User) those with the following role or system permission assignments and with access to the document can run these reports and see the results:
-
Document Owner or Assessment Owner (Assessment Results by Content report only)
-
Manager (Assessment Results by User report only)
-

Assessment Introduction (Optional) Type text that you want to appear at the beginning of the assessment. The introduction text will be preceded by "Read This First."
Randomization By default, all questions you add under a section are included in the order you have listed them. If you want PolicyTech to randomly select one question from each section and include only that question in the assessment, select Show one random question per section.
Disable Numbering If you want the question numbers hidden when users take the assessment, select Disable numbering on assessment. This option is automatically selected and unchangeable if, for Randomization, you select Show one random question per section.
Review By default, when assigned reviewers and approvers look at an assessment, correct answers are not indicated. Select Show correct answers to reviewers and approvers to change the default setting.
Questions Select an option for displaying questions.
Important: Selecting an option to show questions also shows question feedback if any exists. If you are opting to show questions for the first time for this assessment, none of the already added questions will have feedback text as the Feedback box in the Question window is disabled until you have opted to show questions. If you want to include feedback, you will need to edit the questions to add it. (See Changing an Assessment for help with editing questions.)
Answers If you chose the option to display questions, then under the Answers area, select from one of the following:
-
Show all possible answers. Lists all possible answers.
-
Show the user's response. Lists only the answer the assignee selected.
-
Show the correct answer. Lists only the correct answer preceded by .
Create a stand-alone Assessment (for document assessments only) While in an assessment created for a document, click Create a stand-alone Assessment to open a new stand-alone assessment containing the same questions, answers, and settings. This does not affect the original document assessment in any way. It only creates a copy of the document assessment and creates a new stand-alone assessment from that copy.
Not Scored SettingsWith a Not Scored assessment, you can create questions whose answers will not be scored and are generally used to gather information. If you create a stand-alone assessment, assignees will be required to complete the responses to complete their assigned Read / Complete task. If you create an assessment in a document, assignees will be required to complete the responses before they can mark the document as read.
The table below lists each of the Not Scored assessment settings and a description of its characteristics.
