About Field Properties

You can utilize information that is stored as fields in the PolicyTech database to insert into a Microsoft Word document or Excel file using the PolicyTech Tools Add-In.

Note: The PolicyTech Tools Add-In may not be available when editing in a Word document. An administrator can contact NAVEX Customer Support by submitting a request in the Community to request this option be enabled.

An advantage to using field properties is that they automatically update whenever the document information changes. Some properties when inserted will immediately display the correct value, such as the document title, the document owner's name, or the current date. Other properties display the correct information only after certain events have occurred.

For example, if you insert the Publication Date, you will see Not Approved Yet as the field text until the document is approved, at which time the approval date will appear. Also keep in mind that some properties, such as a document title are editable. If a field value changes in the Properties Wizard, that change will automatically reflect in the corresponding field property.
